Kigali Workshop January 2026

On 17 January 2026, we followed up our Brussels workshop with a similar event held in the beautiful and iconic setting of the Hôtel des Mille Collines in Kigali, Rwanda. On this occasion, we heard extremely moving testimonies from members of the Métis community residing in Rwanda, as well as in Belgium and the United States. We were also deeply honoured to welcome Sarafina Legrand, a mother of a Métis child born in colonial Rwanda, whose story touched us all.

As in Brussels, we engaged in lively and thought-provoking discussion throughout the day. We concluded the workshop with a screening of Ken Kamanayo’s 2022 documentary Paul, followed by a reflective exchange on the film led by Georges Kamanayo Gengoux.
