François d’Adesky

François d’Adesky is a former head of diplomatic mission and an activist committed to the defence of human rights and the protection of the environment. He is Vice-President of the Association Résolution Métis – Associatie Resolutie Metis (ARM) and is co-founder of the Association Métis de Belgique – Metissen van België (AMB/MVB).

Jacques d’Adesky

Jacques d’Adesky is an economist, anthropologist, and member of the Centre International Joseph Ki-Zerbo pour l’Afrique et sa Diaspora (CIJKAD). An expert on contemporary Brazil-Africa relations and human rights, he has taught at several universities and is the author of key works on racism.

Jonas d’Adesky

Jonas d’Adesky is a Belgian-Rwandan filmmaker whose work explores questions of identity, with a particular focus on métissage.

Bambi Ceuppens

Bambi Ceuppens is a Doctor of social anthropology (University of St Andrews). She is curator of modern and contemporary African art at the Royal Museum for Central-Africa. Her research focuses on Congolese modern and contemporary art, Congolese cultures, the Belgian-Congolese colonial history and its afterlives, including colonial ‘metis’.

Chimène Dupuis

Chimène Dupuis is a PhD student at the University of Minnesota. Her research is situated at the intersection of postcolonial literature and bande dessinée studies. She focuses on the colonial period of Belgium in the Congo, examining it specifically through the lens of the bandes dessinée medium and exploring its potential for developing decolonial approaches to education.

Ella Elesse

Ella Elesse is a researcher and filmmaker whose work examines colonial filiation regimes, colonial governance of mixed-race childhood in the Belgian Congo, racial classification of mixed-race populations under National Socialism, and visual afterlives of racial modernity. Writer-director of the documentary Sang-Mêlé (2014), she is currently developing the fiction film Georges.

Marcel Florkin

Marcel Florkin is Professor of Economics and Statistics at the Haute École Francisco Ferrer in Brussels and a member of the Board of Directors of Afropean Project. He contributes to the European research programme CONCILIARE, which explores colonial legacies and their contemporary impacts.

Georges Kamanayo Gengoux

Georges Kamanayo Gengoux is a filmmaker who directed the first films and documentaries in Belgium dedicated to colonial Métis children and their mothers. He is currently based in Rwanda, where he trains and mentors young filmmakers.

Laura Kottos

Laura Kottos is a historian and writer who holds a PhD from the University of Reading, where her thesis examined pro-European groups and decolonisation. She has since left academia and, in 2025, published her first novel, Revoir Astrida (L’Harmattan).

François Milliex

François Milliex enjoyed a long career as an Art Director at advertising agencies in Belgium and France, receiving numerous awards for his creativity. Now based in Brussels, he is an artist and also serves as President of the association Métis de Belgique-Métis van België (AMB/MVB).

Antoinette Uwonkunda Kondylis

Antoinette Uwonkunda Kondylis is the founder and president of Métis du Monde, an association established in 2020 that is dedicated to providing support and advocacy for Métis people from the Great Lakes region and their mothers.

Noémie Van Lierde

Noémie is a Belgian-Congolese artist and photographer who explores questions of mixed-race identity, memory, and colonial heritage through photography, collage, and archival materials. Her work gives voice to women whose stories have long been silenced.

Dalila Villella

Dalila Villella is a researcher in the field of contemporary Francophone literature. She has worked in several universities, including Université Grenoble-Alpes and Trinity College Dublin. Her research focuses on the relationship between literature and politics, as well as on approaches to the teaching of literature.
